Sri Anantha Niketan : A Home in Arunachala’s Grace
A Sanctuary of Stillness
At the foot of the sacred Arunachala Mountain, where Sri Ramana Maharshi lived and revealed the path of self-inquiry, stands Sri Anantha Niketan — a sanctuary devoted to stillness, simplicity, and truth. This retreat center near Tiruvannamalai is dedicated to the living presence of silence and the grace of Arunachala.
For Utsav Sangha, Sri Anantha Niketan is not just a destination, it is a cherished home. In 2023, when we first became a moving ashram, this was one of the first places we settled. For two months, we lived, practiced, and grew here, embraced with warmth and love by Gopi and Amma. What we found was not simply hospitality, but family.
Rooted in Grace, Nurtured by Love
From the first day, the Grace of Ramana Maharshi seemed to guide us into stillness. The countryside, far from the city noise, gave us the ground to deepen our practice, hold satsangs, and live in simplicity.
What truly made this ashram feel like home was the service and devotion of Amma and Gopi. Amma’s love was in every detail — in the meals she prepared with care, and most of all, in her godly voice each evening. Night after night, under the open stars, we gathered as Amma sang devotional songs that touched the deepest parts of our being.they were living prayers, carrying meaning, sweetness, and surrender.
Alongside, Gopi’s quiet care and loving presence held us in countless ways. With attention to every need, he ensured that each one of us felt comfortable, safe, and supported. Together, Gopi and Amma opened not only the ashram but also their home and hearts to us. In their warmth, we felt we were not guests but family.
The beauty of Sri Anantha Niketan
At Sri Anantha Niketan, we experienced more than retreat — we experienced belonging. Our Sangha sang Kirtan together, practiced Zen Inquiry, and welcomed seekers from across the world. Each soul we met here felt like a reflection of our own — and in that meeting, something beyond words was revealed.
This is the unique vibration of Arunachala: silence and stillness, yet alive with music, devotion, and deep human connection. To be here is to be reminded that awakening happens not only on the meditation cushion, but also at the dining table, in shared laughter, in Gopi’s gentle care, and in Amma’s songs rising to the night sky.
Why We Return
Sri Anantha Niketan is more than a retreat center. Its meditation hall, open-air yoga pavilion, lush garden sanctuary, and simple rooms are not just facilities — they are vessels of transformation. But beyond the structures, it is the love of Amma and Gopi, the service, the songs, the community, and the ever-present grace of Arunachala that make this place unforgettable.
Every time we gather here — for satsang, for retreats, for Kirtan — it feels like returning to a beloved family home. A place where the awakened ones walk silently with us, and where the mountain itself seems to breathe stillness into our hearts.
A heartfelt Invitation
To visit Sri Anantha Niketan is to enter far more than an ashram in Tamil Nadu. It is to walk into a living sanctuary of silence, devotion, and love. For us, it is one of the most cherished homes of our Sangha — a place where our story unfolds, where our practice deepens, and where our songs continue to rise in the eternal grace of Arunachala.
We warmly welcome you to join us here — to rest in silence, to sit in satsang, to sing in Kirtan, to be uplifted by Amma’s devotion, cared for by Gopi’s kindness, and to meet beautiful souls from every corner of the world.
